Besides their primary mode of fire, weapons have a secondary function that enables an alternate fire mode or grants players special abilities. For example, the secondary function of the K7 Avenger assault rifle detects threats like explosive devices. Most weapons have a finite magazine and must be reloaded after a certain number of shots. Some can be used in duplicate, one in each hand. Combat in Perfect Dark is as realistic as it is intense. Players and opponents can engage in close-quarters combat, enabling the disarming of enemies and the opportunity to steal their weapons or render them unconscious. The damage system is intricately designed, with shots to vital areas such as the torso inflicting more damage than those to limbs. This realistic approach adds depth to the gameplay, requiring players to adapt their tactics and target specific areas for maximum effect.
